Beaver Classic Ice Fishing Derby

Rule and Tournament Guide

 

Organized in 2021 in Memory of Michael ‘Beaver’ Ulwelling

1. REGISTRATION

- Check-in & wristband pick-up starts at 2PM on Friday, January 19th at Arrowwood Resort lake access. Plowed ice roads are provided; wheelhouse spot plowing is available if needed

- Check-in Deadline is 7:59am on Saturday, January 20th - NO EXCEPTIONS, plan accordingly

 

2. VALIDATION

- ALL anglers must attend a send-off meeting from 7-8AM on Saturday, January 20th at the Registration Trailer, where ALL Derby rules will be announced

- ALL anglers must have their wristband validated at the meeting BEFORE 8AM. You will not weigh a fish if you are not wearing a validated wristband at 8AM – NO EXCEPTIONS

 

3. FISHING

- 8AM Shotgun start at the Registration Trailer marks start of fishing. Fish from 8AM-3PM

- All fish will be caught, weighed live, and released. When a fish is caught, immediately bring it in a bucket of water to the Derby Registration Trailer to be weighed by Derby Officials

- Fish must be alive to be weighed

- Fish shall be free of ice and snow

- Any visible hooks, tackle, or bait is to be removed

- All fish will be released live by Derby Officials

- Fish will be marked to prevent duplicate weigh-ins. Anglers should notify staff at weigh-in of any intent to have fish mounted

- All State of Minnesota DNR Fishing Regulations apply

-Weigh-in closes at 3PM SHARP (note this time!). If you are in line at 3PM, you will be weighed

- DNR and Douglas County Sheriff will be on patrol and DNR regulations will be enforced during all event activities (during the Friday Warm-up, ice fishing derby, and banquet). Keep this in mind during the entire event

 

4. FRAUD

- Derby Officials reserve the right to hold or open ANY fish

- Derby Officials reserve the right to check fish houses for compliance

- Any person or group caught cheating will be immediately disqualified from winning fish prizes. Knowingly or unknowingly violating Derby rules is grounds for Derby disqualification.

ANY FRAUD ATTEMPT MAY BE PROSECUTED

- All anglers will sign an affidavit as part of our liability waiver, asserting that contest fish were legally caught in the Derby eligible waters of Lake Darling and in compliance with all Derby rules

 

5. PRIZES

- Fish prizes are awarded based on weight of fish. If more than 1 fish weighs the same, higher prize will be awarded to the fish that was weighed first.

- Winners will be announced at the banquet following the Derby at 4:30PM

- All winners of prizes are subject to signing applicable IRS paperwork before receiving prizes.

- Need not be present to win. Prizes must be claimed within 30 days: by 2/20/24
