ICE FISHING DERBY RULES & TOURNAMENT GUIDE

1. REGISTRATION:

  • Check-in and wristband pick-up starts at 2pm on Friday at Arrowwood Resort Lake Access. Plowed ice roads are provided; wheelhouse spot plowing is available if needed.

  • Check-in deadline is 7:59am on Saturday -- NO EXCEPTIONS, plan accordingly.

  • Refunds: All sales are final; absolutely no refunds. This includes ice condition refund requests. The event will not be canceled, if there are not favorable ice conditions to have the ice fishing derby, the banquet will still take place. The board members will make every attempt to fill the event schedule with other options during the derby time.

  • Transfers: To transfer a registration to another person, you must email beaverclassic2022@gmail.com prior to registration so we can facilitate your changes prior to the event.

2. MANDATORY MEETING AND WRISTBANDS

  • All anglers must attend a send-off meeting from 7:45-8am on Saturday at the Registration Trailer where ALL Derby rules will be announced.

  • All anglers must be wearing their event wristband when weighing fish. You will not weigh a fish if you are not wearing a wristband -- NO EXCEPTIONS.

3. FISHING:

  • 8am shotgun start at the registration trailer marks the start of fishing.

  • Fish on your own from 8am-3pm.

  • FIsh caught before 8am are disqualified.

  • All fish will be caught, weighed live and released. When a fish is caught, immediately bring it in a bucket of water to the Derby Registration Trailer to be weighed by Derby Officials.

  • Fish must be alive to be weighed.

  • Fish shall be free of ice and snow.

  • Any visible hooks, tackle or bait is to be removed.

  • All fish will be released live or kept by the angler.

  • Fish will be marked to prevent duplicate weigh-ins. Anglers should notify staff at weigh-in of any intent to have fish mounted.

  • Weigh-in closes at 3pm SHARP

  • If you are in line at 3pm, you will be weighted.

  • All State of Minnesota DNR Fishing Regulations apply.

  • DNR and Douglas County Sheriff will be on patrol and DNR regulations will be enforced during all event activities (during the Friday Warm-Up, ice fishing derby and banquet). Keep this in mind during the entire event.

4. FRAUD

  • Derby officials reserve the right to hold or open ANY fish.

  • Derby officials reserve the right to check fish houses for compliance.

  • Any person or group caught cheating will be immediately disqualified from winning fish prizes.

  • Knowingly or unknowingly violating derby rules is grounds for derby disqualification.

  • All anglers will sign an affidavit as part of our liability waiver, asserting the contest fish were legally caught in the Derby eligible waters of Lake Darling and in compliance with all Derby rules.

  • ANY FRAUD ATTEMPTS MAY BE PROSECUTED.

5. PRIZES

  • Fish prizes are awarded based on weight of fish. If more than 1 fish weighs the same, higher prize will be awarded to the fish that was weighed first.

  • Winners will be announced at the banquet following the Derby at 5pm.

  • Need not be present to win.

  • Prizes must be claimed within 30 days: by 2/18/25.
